For over 30 years, the Tamale Festival has been a cherished tradition in historic Downtown Indio, enchanting the Coachella Valley with its vibrant celebration. Proudly holding two Guinness World Records for the biggest Tamale and largest Tamale festival, it has earned recognition as one of the nation's "top ten food festivals" by The Food Network. Not to mention, a visit from the iconic Huell Howser with an episode of Visiting, taped live at the 1997 Indio International Tamale Festival.

During the first weekend of December, the festival hosts families who gather to embrace the festive spirit, traditional cuisines, refreshing drinks, and lively entertainment. Today, the festival hosts over 200 vendors, 6 stages of live entertainment, beer gardens, and has hosted over 50,000 patrons per year.

The Indio International Tamale Festival is produced by CUSP agency on behalf of the city of Indio.
